Job Summary

The Digital Media Graphic Designer is responsible for developing and maintaining the visual identity of AISRS across all digital and print platforms. The role focuses on creating high-quality design materials for research publications, institutional campaigns, events, and communication activities. Working closely with media, communications, program/events, and research teams, the designer delivers visually compelling, accurate, and brand-consistent content that supports AISRS’s mission and professional standards.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design digital and print materials including reports, brochures, infographics, presentations, event branding, interview, round table, dialogue, YouTube and social media graphics.
  • Develop visual concepts and layouts aligned with organizational goals and branding guidelines.
  • Produce and edit images, illustrations, and layouts for multi-platform use.
  • Contribute to motion graphics, animations, or basic video content when required.
  • Apply and protect AISRS brand standards across all materials.
  • Ensure visual consistency in typography, color, layout, and imagery.
  • Maintain and update templates and brand assets.
  • Use professional design tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, and After Effects.
  • Prepare print-ready and digital-ready files according to technical specifications.
  • Coordinate with printing vendors and monitor production quality.
  • Work with media, editorial, research, program/events and administrative teams to understand design needs.
  • Participate in creative planning and contribute design ideas.
  • Deliver assigned tasks within agreed timelines.
  • Review designs for accuracy, clarity, and brand compliance.
  • Conduct final checks before publication or printing.
  • Ensure printed and digital outputs meet quality standards.
  • Track tasks, manage workloads, and report progress to supervisors
  • Handle multiple projects efficiently while meeting deadlines
  • Maintain confidentiality of institutional materials
  • Perform additional design-related duties as assigned

Working Conditions

  • Standard office hours with occasional extended work for urgent projects or events.
  • Office-based with possible field visits.
  • Design tools and equipment provided by AISRS.
  • Flexibility in working hours may be required during events, campaigns, or crisis situations.

Job Requirements

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign; Premiere Pro and After Effects preferred).
  • Familiarity with WordPress and responsive design principles.
  • Strong understanding of typography, layout, color theory, and branding.
  • Knowledge of social media formats and digital accessibility standards.
  • Basic skills in motion graphics, infographics, and image editing.

Professional Skills

  • Strong creative ability supported by a portfolio.
  • Clear communication of design concepts.
  • Excellent time management and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to work on-site or remotely as required.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Fine Arts, Media, or a related field (preferred)

Experience

  • Minimum 3–5 years of professional graphic design experience.
  • Experience in digital media, print production, and social media design.
  • Prior work with NGOs, research institutions, media organizations, or agencies is an advantage

Languages

  • Fluent in Pashto and Dari.
  • Strong proficiency in English (written and spoken).
