Kabul — The Afghanistan Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies (AISRS) hosted a closed-door roundtable discussion under its AISRS Roundtable Series entitled “Afghanistan–United Kingdom Relations: Opportunities, Challenges, and Regional Outlook.”
The event brought together representatives of the United Kingdom and a diverse group of Afghan academics, researchers, policy analysts, media professionals, private sector representatives, and civil society members for an open and constructive exchange of views.
Held under the Chatham House Rule, the roundtable provided a platform for candid discussion on issues of mutual interest. The dialogue focused on Afghanistan–United Kingdom relations, regional developments, security challenges, and opportunities for practical engagement and cooperation.
Throughout the session, participants shared their perspectives and recommendations, while members of the UK delegation engaged in an interactive exchange of views. The discussion reflected a shared interest in strengthening mutual understanding through respectful dialogue and intellectual engagement.
The roundtable also highlighted the value of engaging directly with Afghan scholars and practitioners living and working inside the country, whose day-to-day experience and professional perspectives contribute to a deeper understanding of Afghanistan’s evolving realities and the opportunities for constructive international engagement.
