The Afghanistan Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies (AISRS) hosted an insightful dialogue on 4th December 2025 in its main officeu in Kabul, featuring experts discussing the escalating tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan, along with the implications for trade, transit, humanitarian access, and overall regional stability.

Following the Chatham House Rule, the meeting gathered Afghan scholars, UNAMA Officials, policy experts, business leaders, and members of the Afghan diaspora. Those based in Afghanistan participated in person, while external experts joined the conversation online.

The discussions focused on how recent political and security changes are impacting cross Durand Line movement, the flow of goods, and regional connectivity as a whole. Speakers also emphasized the humanitarian challenges posed by ongoing border restrictions and the importance of collaborative efforts to ease regional tensions.

AISRS mentioned that the session aimed to equip UNAMA and other international partners with a variety of Afghan viewpoints during this time of rapidly changing regional dynamics. The Institute reiterated its commitment to serving as a neutral platform for inclusive discussions on both national and regional matters.

Looking ahead, AISRS plans to keep hosting similar dialogues to foster informed analysis and constructive engagement as Afghanistan navigates its complex regional landscape.
